8x10. available for purchase here. Ms. Nin has been a bit of a hero / celebrity crush of mine since high school. She was also the subject of the first "NR" film I ever say, Henry and June, which is absolutely beautiful and I'll never think of cigar smoke the same way again. If you're wondering why she's so great, just check out this diary entry from March 23, 1936: “There is a stronger destiny. I relinquish my efforts against it. I don’t care about tomorrow, about my work, about Hugh or Henry. I don’t care. I haven’t any more feelings. Last night, with the hardness, there came a freedom and recklessness. Fear of death, nearness of death, plunges us into reckless living. Rank said when I decided to die, to go anywhere, to do anything (just before I met Henry and June), then I began to live. So, again, I feel reckless. I feel that I live in the moment.” And, of course, the veil is of particular interest considering the interplay of eroticism with exoticism and the role of cultural artifacts.
