arkansas ["knees"]
rubbercut. 4x6. This piece is an ode to the story of the American Midwest, the land of my upbringing [though I wasn't raised in Arkansas proper.] Of all my works, this is one of two or three that consistently get the most praise. I left the dark bar on the side, like a polaroid, in honor of the passing of time from my childhood until now. Do we walk into the grass to avoid what awaits us at home, or do we go for the exploration, searching for nuggets of treasure in the fields. Originally designed as an album cover for Jennifer Stuart's first EP, "It Came upon a Midnight Clear," which I assure you has nothing to do with Christmas music. |
