linocut. 8x10. available for purchase here. The feeling is that prickly field grass, taller than it ought to be, and paler than yellow. Crunchy, too. So much so that the sound carries forward and you've been found out... She's watching your approach, her eyes locked tight with yours. She knows your intentions are pure and yet she's... sheepish. She can't help it. Ovis aries. This print is one of the most important to me. It was upon discovering this sheep plate in a half-carved state that my partner encouraged me to pick back up my printmaking work after a several month hiatus. The wool was a challenge, but one that I met by reminding myself that each image tells a story and that these stories don't need to be "direct translations." He's a favorite for knitters, as well as anyone else who wants to add some warm, pastoral art to their home. This was one of the first pieces I tried printing on Thai unryu paper, and to great success. It taught me that the bold lines of some designs are well complemented by the organic swirls of kozo seen through the paper. You can pick up your very own sheep from our etsy shop. |
