study: dark forest
woodcut. 8x10. This isn't the "prettiest" print in the world, but that's not necessarily the point. This was a study of Max Ersnt's "Dark Forest" in a three plate woodcut. I was much more interested in following some of his lines and trying to capture the motif than I was in producing something particularly appealing. Not that I would have complained. I was pleased, however, with how portions of this print looked on the cover of small composition books. |
